Leaves A'Changin

We've continued to focus on a lot of ground work as we prep for the leach field and septic.  Let's just say we are going to have some serious bathroom space!

Our landscaper has been hard at work starting to plan where our trees and gardens will be planted as well as getting the grass seed out!  A huge thanks to From the Ground Up, Dan Compagna, for all he does.

As fall is in full swing and the leaves have changed I decided to take some pictures of the pond as a preview for what to expect during our fall wedding season in the coming years!  Talk about BEAUTIFUL!

Happy as Ever,
Jenny

Concrete Wonders

Cut to 7:45 am on Friday, August 19th:
Half asleep I vaguely hear a door open.
My brain is telling me to ignore the noise and continue to sleep.

7:46:30 am:
"Jenny, Jenny... Get up!"
"Ughhhh, I'm sleeping... WHAT?"
"You need to come outside they're already half done the floor and they have a PINK cement truck."
"Ya, ya, dad... I'll get up in a minute." (mumbled)
"If you don't get up you aren't going to be see it and you won't be able to get a picture... GET UP."

7:47:32 am:
Dad leaves room.  Look at clock.  Roll out of bed. (LITERALLY ROLL OUT.)

This morning you'd think my father was a little kid at a candy store.  I on the other hand am not a morning person. But, once I got up I was very excited with what I saw; the start of our cement floor and yes, a pink cement truck.  By the middle of the day we had a complete concrete floor, smooth as can be.
I have to say we've been incredibly lucky to have worked with so many talented and passionate people thus far.  Today we were lucky enough to work with S. Richer Concrete! Not only was Scott and his son knowledgable but were a complete pleasure to work with.  Below are some pictures of the progress today:

For now we have the sprinklers on the floor.  I never realized how much moisture freshly poured concrete absorbs!

CMP has also had our pole installed; power to come soon!

Mario isn't our Plumber.

Things seem to be happening fast around here.  Or, so it seems.
Over the weekend all of the rough-in for the plumbing was done by our plumber, Ronny Chretien who had help from Dad, Dan, Dave, and Bill.  We were also able to get a burn permit and get rid of some brush since it finally rained. Here are some pictures of the progress:

We have a little joke going now because every time I call someone to meet for whatever the next step is they come over and are ready to start within one or two days.  Dad always just gives me this look like... really?  Apparently, I get stuff done. ;-)

Dirt, Dirt, Dirt.

Now that we have a solid foundation things are really getting underway.  We've met with our builder, made some choices on materials, and are edging closer to the day the building starts going up.  You never realize how much goes into the process of preparing to build until you experience it.  The trusses and windows have officially been ordered as well as all of our other materials.

I have to say we've been lucky enough to work with Dan Carter, of C.A. Carter Pit and Excavation, who has helped us with all of our ground work. He's currently backfilling to prep for in-ground plumbing.   Dan helped us with everything from the trees and stumps, to digging the well line and septic.  He's also been great for networking and connecting with other local business' like Hill's pit and our ground engineer for soil testing.  A HUGE thanks to all you've done Dan.  Another thanks to Steve Guay for tree removal.  All I can say is it's nice to work with great personalities who work hard and do an excellent job as they go above and beyond.

Wait, Where'd They Go?

Woke up this morning and walked into the shop and dad goes, "So, all the forms and trucks were gone even before I got here." <He arrives at the shop around 7:40am>

That being said... we officially have a foundation.  Sometime early this morning the crew came and removed all of the forms and just disappeared.  Talk about efficiency.  We were lucky enough to be able to work with Blain from Williams Foundations who went above and beyond.

Now I present to you, the official start of our building:

Just the Beginning

So, where do I begin???

I was inspired by a friend from afar to start a blog that documents the progress of the event facility, Wishing Pond Events, my current business project.  Here's a little background information to help you understand the full picture of how we've arrived at this point.  (More of the background story to come later)

About 6 or so years ago I started thinking about what my ideal future career would be.  I had just recently began to dabble in the world of DJing and came up with the idea of owning and running an event facility.  I grew up with a family who celebrated everyone's birthdays including cousins, aunts, uncles; literally, everyone.  My mom alone has seven siblings, most whom have children.  So, our family parties would consist of anywhere from 15 to 30+ people.  Entertaining was/is our thing... :)  This inspired me to step into the world of being a wedding DJ.  [Fast forward; many conversations with people about my plans, my goals, my ideas... years later and over 30 weddings down we are here today, at this exact moment where our foundation was poured today.]

In an attempt to prevent any spoilers I am not going to give you any information about the future but rather of where we are in the project and what we have accomplished thus far.

Here is the lot when we first started removing trees.

Then, excavating.

Today's progress:  CONCRETE!

You could say a lot has happened.  But, now things are really progressing.  Stay tuned for more of my story and to stay up to date with the progress of #wishingpondevents

With a Happy Heart,
